..... our Victorian showcase is now embedded in our memory banks ....

converge

280 delegates - now that's got to be a record!

Practitioners, students, managers and leaders from Victoria gathered together to showcase their innovative learning outcomes and in particular to show how their learners are benefitting from their new ways of teaching.

Invited guests from other states were highlighted in their own sessions and we were especially pleased to listen to our two keynote speakers: Nigel Paine and John Mitchell.

Slideshows of presentations will be available soon at the conVerge website and we thank the organising committee, ably led by Rosemary Crowe and Diana Murase, at the Gordon Institute of TAFE.

I came away thinking the people currently making changes at BRIT need to be influenced to seriously consider e-learning as an integral part of the future as they realign BRIT to make it more responsive to industry. The keynote speakers and several of sessions I went to emphasized the need for innovative, visionary, and supportive leadership and now is the perfect time for that at BRIT.

I also came away from the conference with the knowledge that many of the things I saw were being done somewhere at BRIT already, and I hope we can expand of that.

I'd also like to say yes, Diana, I'm glad I chose Geelong over Perth. Thank you.

My group of intrepid eLVISes thoroughly enjoyed ConVerge, despite the accommodation I had booked them into! At least they got their own bed and a 5am wake-up call (thanks to the highway)!

Wide range of workshops, very well organised. Our thanks to Gordon, although we never saw the chap - he delegated well to Rosemary and Diana.

My take-away? I resisted adding "sweet and sour chicken" and instead learnt that no-one is interested in what we are doing as part of our LearnScope projects (a very keen group of three attended our workshop) and the emphasis for me next year, if there is a next year, is to deliver a hands-on workshop. More fun, more interest methinks.

I enjoyed Converge a great deal, it was well worth the time and effort. I would like to add my thanks to Rosemary, Diana and the Gordon staff and students. My 'take-away:- You can't change everything, but you can show people what you are doing, and this may help change something.
